These resources were developed for the Block Grant Regional Prevention Coordinators (RPCs), who provide training and support to coalitions in their areas, and Planning and Implementation (P&I) grantees, who are focused on preventing underage alcohol use among youth in 10 communities across Minnesota.

Types of evaluation

Program theory and logic models

Wilder Research, August 2009. — Discusses program theory as a tool to explain why a program is expected to work and the development of logic models to illustrate the program theory. Includes examples and worksheets.

Obtaining informed consent

Wilder Research, August 2009 — Defines informed consent and introduces different types of consent. Samples of student, passive parent, and active parental consent forms are provided.

Data collection guide

Wilder Research, February 2009 — Guides readers through the process of collecting new data, including choosing the most appropriate data collection strategy and what instrument to use. The guide also includes tips for administering a survey and for conducting an interview.

Data entry and analysis guide

Wilder Research, February 2009 — Describes steps to help make data entry more efficient, including step-by-step data entry instructions, and analyzing data, with a focus on quantitative data analysis.

Wilder Research, August 2009 — Introduction to and tips for analyzing quantitative and qualitative data and drawing conclusions.

Reporting research findings guide

Wilder Research, February 2009 — Tips for sharing the results of an evaluation through a written report. Addresses considerations such as formatting, how to report the results of different types of survey questions, and what information to include.
